DANIEL HRUSCHKA

Scientific Advisor
Institution:
Arizona State University
Dan Hruschka studies how humans forge relationships that foster cooperation, and how they also create social boundaries that limit the extent of their generosity. He uses field studies, behavioral experiments, and cross-cultural analyses to answer these questions, with a special emphasis on fieldwork in rural Bangladesh. In addition to a book on the evolution and development of human friendships, he has published articles in Evolution and Human Behavior, Psychological Science, Human Nature, and Current Anthropology. His research has been funded by grants from the Templeton Foundation, the National Institutes of Health , and the National Science Foundation, including an NSF early CAREER award. Hruschka is currently Associate Professor of Anthropology and serves as the Associate Director at the School of Human Evolution and Social Change, Arizona State University.
